Ella Joao started Moi Decor in 2004 in Duncan Yard, Hatfield, Pretoria, having been inspired by all things French after a trip to the South of France. She loved the French Provençal look and decided to bring a little bit of France to South Africa by opening up a home boutique where you could find handpicked collectables, furniture pieces, homeware and gifts – even some items she personally brought over from her trips. Over time, her two daughters  Carla and Nicci (now grown up), got involved in the business when they opened Moi Decor Parkhurst in April 2009. With both shops attracting discerning clients who love the French, romantic look, they eventually started receiving requests as to offering decor hire service. Which is what they launched in May 2011.

Moi offers romantic gifts, ornate mirrors, chandeliers, handpicked furniture items such as vanities, pedestals and dining room tables and chairs. Cushions, quilts, Putumayo CDs.  Home and kitchenware imported from France under the brand Comptoir de Famille. Vintage inspired accessories for romantic girls like hats, scarves and more! Oh, and now items for decor hire ;)

Their plans for the future? They will be launching Moi Decor Wedding items in addition to growing Moi Decor as a standalone brand with the two (or more…) shops.
