Paddle fan DIY wedding program and printable

This month’s free printable is bursting at the seams with pretty! I’m really fond of the leafy trend that’s going around at the moment, so I created a picture perfect Paddle fan DIY wedding program that’s on trend & which is easy to edit yourself. These botanical paddle fans aren’t only beautiful, but they’re super practical too and great for keeping your guests cool during a romantic garden wedding. Follow the steps below to customise & create these fans at home for your special day. Enjoy!

You will need:

• Free Paddle Fan Wedding Program print
• Double Sided Tape
• Wood Fan Handles
• Ruler
• Art Knife
• Paper Trimmer or scissors
• Ribbon or spray paint (optional)

Step 1:
Download the program template & open in MS Word. I used Raleway & Playfair design which are available as free fonts. Add your ceremony & bridal party details, as well as your personal details on the cover. You are welcome to change the formatting & fonts, but remember to stay within the trim lines. Once you’ve edited the menu, you can save it as a PDF & take to your local print shop, or print directly to your home printer using A4 card stock (thicker than regular paper). You can also use paper with a slight texture, but keep in mind that the paper should be able to fold easily.

Step 2:
Line up your ruler with the dotted lines in the middle & score the program down the center with the non-blade point of your art-knife. This will help you fold a straight line. Fold the program in half to make a booklet.

Step 3:
Using an art knife or scissors, trim the three outer edges of the program, being careful not to cut along the fold line. If you would like to spray paint your handles, now is the time to do it. We think gold or an accent colour would go perfect with this design.

Step 4:
Attach double sided tape to both sides of the top of the fan handle, and to one side of the program. Tape works better than glue as it won’t leave a soggy mark on your paper.

Step 5:
Attach the fan handle to middle of the bottom edge of the program. Fold the program over the fan handle & press to make sure that it sticks properly.

Step 6:
Dress up the fan handle with ribbon to match your ceremony. If in doubt, stick with gold or white.

Pro-tip:
This project can be very time consuming, so make it fun & invite your friends over to help. Make dinner, grab a glass of wine & enjoy the evening in each other’s company – time will fly by! Have fun with the creative process Lovilee’s!
