It all started with a caterpillar cake, and with the help of Jacky the bug and garden kids party turned out to be real fun! Although it rained the whole morning, the kids had fun and there was almost no eats left. Perhaps because they couldn’t run around too much – they spent time around the table!
There were worm jelly cups, spider lollies, rice crispy bees, worm biscuits and grapes on skewers. More filling, was the chocolate spread sandwiches, served in a worm shape. The vienna-spiders almost got left in the kitchen – but were gobbled up before a single photo could be taken! Half-length, raw spaghetti is inserted in a quarter-cut vienna so that it stick out on both ends and then boiled for a couple of minutes. The cooked spaghetti resembles the legs of a bug, with the vienna being the body.
The table was decorated with a fake grass runner, small metal pails with sweets and the eats. A garland was made with left over butterflies that were used for the invites.
The cake consisted of coloured cupcakes, made from this recipe. I had a friend over, and we had such fun assembling the cake!
Bubble goo was made for the party favors, this is made by preparing gelatine and mixing bubble bath slowly back into the gelatine. It was poured into cups with a plastic butterfly inside and turned slimy and gooey – my daughter emptied the whole container in the bath that same night!
For the adults, there were sweet and savoury finger foods and cakes. The most popular: a divine, Chocolate Coffee cake. Not a single crumb remained. I will share this recipe next week.

If it is different, made with love and contains Italian parsley or rosemary, I love it! I'm inspired by my daughter, born Sept 2010, a good latte served with a pretty piece of cake or even better: a carrot and cream cheese-centered muffin. I live by the motto "If you love what you do, you'll never work a day". May you be inspired to live a lovilee life! -
