Wedding inspiration: French Shabby Chic
Shabby Chic: A form of interior design where furniture and furnishings are either chosen for their appearance of age and signs of wear and tear or where new items are distressed to achieve the appearance of an antique. At the same time, a soft, opulent, yet cottage-style decor, often with an affected feel is emphasised to differentiate it from genuine period decor. – Wikipedia
This is the first of a series of inspiration boards on colour and different wedding styles. The French, Shabby Chic style has been quite prevalent recently, here with some décor items that you can use to compliment this style at your wedding:
- vintage candleabras (available for hire from In Good Company)
- vintage photo frames for place cards (available for hire from Moi Decor)
- old floral sheets for draping
- vases from thrift stores
- laced linen table cloths
- crotchet table runners (DIY article)
- potted combinations filled with flowers or herbs used as centerpieces
- dried lavender
- candels in consol jars
- bird cages (available for hire from In Good Company or for sale from Heart & Home)
- Ceramic bunnies (available for sale from Moi Decor or In Good Company)
The inspiration board was created from a photo feature earlier this year on lovilee, photographed by Melanie Wessels Photography at Morrells Boutique Venue

about the author
I am a creative at heart, who likes being surrounded by pretty things. My new house was the main inspiration for Lovilee, finding time to prettify, paint and ponder about change. Coffee, lavender, numbers, the color purple and my jeans inspire me. I believe that you should do what you love and love what you do! -
