A wedding in Patensie {Anneli Young}

Couple: Alwyn and Mariska {known as Emmie}
Ceremony: NG Kerk Kwagga
Reception: Die Grand, the reception venue of Padlangs restaurant, Patensie, Eastern Cape
Photography: Anneli Young Photography {Eastern Cape}

The following wedding was just tooo lovilee for word, has lots of DIY details, stunning flowers and even a miniature vintage car that transported the rings to the front of the church! This is our first Eastern Cape Wedding featured that I can recall, and in such a lovilee vintage venue. Be inspired!

The couples’ story {by the bride}
Alwyn and I disagree about the day that I apparently fell in love with HIM 😉 We saw each other for the first time on 12 January 2011. The poor guy was moving in at the complex that I was staying at all on his own. We started seeing more of each other through a mutual acquaintance that worked with me. The girl spoke so much that I didn’t even realise that the quiet man with the most beautiful, kind blue eyes could speak!

One evening, whilst watching Grey’s Anatomy, Alwyn arrived for an unwanted visit to come ask some advise about the talkative girl that he liked so much. After a quick counselling session I told him that he’s welcome to come and visit me at any time for advice (I’m a psychologist by profession), but NOT during my Grey’s-time. And so I started seeing more of Alwyn and realised that he had something I didn’t have at my flat: 2 percent milk for a good cup of coffee!

Lots of time was spent talking about the girl he liked and all my failed attempts at finding my dream guy. Soon we were spending more a more time together and I couldn’t wait to see or hear from him. We discovered we both like going on road trips, and made any excuse to go see interesting sites,from the Giant Pineapple in Bathurst to going to Padlangs in Patensie!

On a daytrip to Paradise beach on 31 July 2011, he asked me out. I was so surprised that I gave him such a speech and requested that he phone his whole family to hear if we can date! I left his house in a shocked state and he phoned me an hour later to say that he’d phoned his whole family!

On 1 June 2012 Alwyn phoned me to tell me that his bakkie had broken down and that I needed to fetch him for our date night. I was rather disappointed, since I’d just had my nails done, but hey, a girl has to do what a girl has to do. As he opened the garage door, a song started playing and he dropped to one knee to ask the big question. We had the most romantic dinner at a beautifully set table surrounded by candles and lanterns (in the garage of course!).

We set the wedding date for 15 December (also my birthday) in Patensie at Die Grand, a beautiful, vintage style venue. We were blessed to have a crisis free day: me in my dream dress, surrounded by our friends and family with my favourite person waiting for me at the end of the aisle looking charmingly, handsome.

I thank God every day for blessing me with such a kind,giving person to share my life with and I often look at him and have to pinch myself to make sure I’m not dreaming.
