Geometric Wedding Ideas + Inspiration

The start of 2013 saw a new and exciting wedding trend make an appearance – the geometric wedding!

Geometric design has been making a statement of bold colours and definitive shapes that makes for an interesting contrast to the types of styles that have been so popular over the last few years, we’ve seen the whimsical wedding take a complete u-turn in to a modern style this year.

Geometry refers to lines, shapes, symmetry and abstraction, and there are plenty of ways that you can incorporate these concepts into your big wedding day that will definitely give your guests something to remember!

The geometric bride and bridesmaid dress:
Square or boat wedding dress necklines work really well for this idea of the geometric dress, offering straight and defined edges whilst allowing the rest of your dress to remain elegant and traditional. Although your wedding theme may consist of different shapes and patterns you may want to stick with a traditional wedding dress but incorporate the geometric style in your jewellery or even your shoes.

A geometric theme allows the bridesmaids to make a statement with brightly coloured bridesmaid dresses, creating a rainbow effect that will look amazing in your wedding photos or different shapes for each of your bridesmaids. Geometric dress designs are on trend this year whether they are bridesmaid dresses or not so you could always hit the high street in search of the perfect dresses.

Backdrops
Take away the silk drapes and curtains and replace them little drops of colour wonders that will make for a more interesting and visual backdrop. You can use the same template as you used for your favour boxes using a range of different colours, or if you are sticking to a colour scheme then you can choose your colours in relation to that.

Attach your assortment of little cardboard ornaments to different lengths of string. Make sure your string lengths go from very short to fill the top of the backdrop and very long to fill the bottom of the backdrop. Attach all of your shapes to the string and go on further to attach those onto a support bar, or even more string.

You then hang this behind the altar or any other spaces you have surrounding your venue and there you have it!
