A ‘glimmer of gold’ wedding

Melanie Wessels captured this special couples’ images of their wedding held at Chez Charlene. The theme was filled with gold touches, one of the trends that lovilee predicts will dominate the wedding scene this year.

Jean had seen Sarah, who moved here from the US in 2005, at parties but never spoke to her. They didn’t know each other at the time but the following year, Jean saw a picture of her on-line and finally started talking to her on hi5. Being a little skeptical at first, she agreed to become his pen pall as she never thought they’d really get to meet. After a good few years of writing they developed a friendship and as Sarah writes: “It was very refreshing, I did not have to impress him nor did he to me, it was just strictly a friendship.”

After writing to each other for a few years, Jean mentioned that he would be moving to the States and three months later out of the blue, she received a message from a New York number saying “Hi, this is your new friend Jean”. They have been together for 3 years and in Sarah’s own words, this is how he proposed: “Jean proposed very traditionally according to Congolese culture. He brought his Mom and Dad to my parents and they asked for my hand in marriage on his behalf. It was very beautiful and special.”

The decor was filled with touches of gold and crystals added a glam factor! How gorgeous are the bridesmaids dresses?
