Superhero Party {LVstar Photography}

Superhero Party

This is the very first feature that we do from LVstar Photography, but certainly not the last. Photographer Lee-Ann Vigus captured this absolutely gorgeous Superhero Party for Carter’s 3rd birthday earlier this year at his parents’ house in Cape Town. I am sure that almost every little kid has a superhero inside that comes out at some time or another, and what better occasion than at his/her birthday party?

Carter’s mom, Bianca Boschoff {contact details at the bottom of the post} recently started a event coordinating business called Bee’s events and was responsible for putting the day together. “With all the parties that I do – I like to think like the person who the party is for and totally absorb myself in what would make them happy and wow them – at the end of the day the party is for THEM so their enjoyment is my priority!” – Bianca

Bianca wanted a Superhero themed party and thought of having a Comic book made that included all the children that were invited to the party. Together with LVstar Photography, she arranged a photo-shoot a month before the party. Bianca put together a simple story-line that they used as guide. All the costumes where bought from an American website, www.buycostumes.com.

LVstar Photography then designed the comic and Bianca had them printed and bound as gifts for each of the kids.
On the day of the party the kids got to wear their costumes again… but with it being a super hot day they all didn’t last too long dressed up.

Were there any DIY details on the day?

  • The dumbbells – Bianca had the foam balls sized by a designer and sticks cut at a wood store – then gluing and painting done at home.
  • Hulk bean bag boxes were cut and painted at home.
  • All the pintables were sources from the internet and the specialized ones made with paint, power point and then cut and either glued, taped or attached to walls with prestik.
  • Backdrops were hand drawn and painted by Biance with the clouds also cut from large sheets of paper she sourced from art shops.
  • Frames where hand-made from a craft shop, Bianca then painted and decoupaged the printed comic strip, after that she varnished them and printed a photo of each child to insert. (photos from the pre-party comic shoot).
