‘As a fellow lover of the ethereal and surreal underwater world, Natalie embraced the quietness of the water and allowed herself to get lost in surroundings so closely resembling the surroundings of her unborn child. With that in mind we went with a beautiful, but moody and surreal feel. We were hoping for something that might describe a metaphorical understanding between Natalie and her unborn daughter, an ethereal water cocoon perhaps…
Watching Natalie move slowly and gracefully under the water was not only incredible to witness, but I was excited by her peaceful, goddess-like expressions. I have always loved doing maternity shoots, there’s a beautiful tenderness and warmth that surrounds the mother that is hard to describe… This was just like it.’

Ilse Moore is renowned in South Africa as an underwater fashion, portrait and fine art photographer as well as a underwater maternity photographer. Her underwater photography has been featured in several Arts and Culture, Lifestyle and Fine Art magazines as well as numerous fashion and culture blogs around the world.
She was a guest photographer on the first season of Africa’s Next Top Model as well as been awarded several peer awards for her underwater images. Together with her husband they also run a successful wedding photography business, GingerAle Photography. Her husband also assists with lighting for the underwater shoots.
