Woodland wedding at Beloftebos {Sybrand Cillié}

Ruan + Inge Radyn got married in the beautiful forest of Beloftebos, Stanford. Their special day was captured by the talented Sybrand Cillié. This Woodland wedding had plenty of DIY projects from the invites to the décor.

“I’ve always dreamt of a fairytale wedding, a day where everything would seem magical and possible. Both Ruan + I love nature and felt that if we truly wanted to create a beautiful day, creation would play a big part. After all, nothing can compete with the beauty of tall trees, sunlight dancing through the branches that seems to go up all the way to heaven and a soft wind that blows through the leaves. When we saw the forest at Beloftebos we new that this would be the place where we would make our lifetime promise. I build my colour scheme around colours that one would find in the forest, a soft olive green and a nice ‘berry’ purple. The nude champagne colour which reminded me of a fairy’s dress. Over all I would say our theme was a whimsical forest celebration!”

There were many DIY projects part of this wedding that included: For the invites there were hand-made little wooden storybooks with a poem invitation inside. For the seating charts old planks were painted with the table names and guest lists. These were hung on the trees in the forest and each guest had to search for their name. In addition hand-painted wooden signs adorned the forest with sayings such as “will we be friends forever, asked Piglet, even longer answered Pooh”.

For the décor they used bottles painted on the inside for the flowers. There were hand-made fire fly jars that contained battery-driven fairy lights and moss for the bridesmaids to carry. And then there were lots and lots of hand-cut paper butterflies and off course bunting.

Do you have any advice for brides-to-be?
Try to not do everything yourself, that’s what we did at our wedding… from flowers to the cake, to the invitations to the décor….even though it looked beautiful I still feel that if I left some things for other people to do the whole journey would have been less stressful.
