6 great boy party themes

When it comes to planning a party for a little man there are so many boy party themes to choose from. The easiest option is normally to stick to wheels – Cars, planes, tractors and more. There are off course some great other themes like dinosaurs, dragons or even Lego. I hope will inspire you for your little ones’ party. We also have a lovilee selection of girls party theme suggestions that you might enjoy to read if you have a princess.

It is important to start planning a party early as it takes a lot of stress out of the process being able to source bits and bops for the party as you see them instead of doing a mad dash a week before. I like starting the process by pinning ideas on a Pinterest board. See my kids party themes Pinterest board.

1. Cars party
My little one was a total Disney Cars fanatic, so we decided that this would be a great theme for his second birthday. Daddy made a cake topper and we had a photo booth for everyone to make use of. Carike Ridout took amazing photos to capture our memories. (see the full post here)

2. Construction party
Manny was very into Paw Patrol and just loved Rubble the construction pup. I opted to have a yellow and black construction party and gave each kid a hard hat as favour and a space to dig in the sandpit for treasure. (view the full post here)

3. Planes party
My little manny turned 4 earlier this year and wanted a planes party as theme. I was so glad that I started planning the party early as the morning sickness with my second pregnancy was really bad and gave me little time to feel like doing anything. (view the full post here)

4. Hot wheels party
Off-course manny wanted another ‘wheel’ party for his 5th birthday – a Hot Wheels party. I opted for red and yellow as main colours with black and white racing squares as accents. As main attraction we booked a company called The Kiddies Cart Co who brought an inflatable track and four battery operated go carts to entertain the kids with. There were also two great assistants that kept an eye on the little people. It was a hit, they were totally exhausted after two hours of driving around in circles. View the full post here.

5. Fox party
Laura from Work of Heart styled this lovilee Fox First Birthday Party. The day was beautifully captured by Carike Ridout Photography. Her client, Gina fell in love with some cute fox plates from In Good Company and decided on a Fox party theme for her son Luca’s first birthday.

6. Carnival party
This is such a versatile theme and I just love the bright colours that goes along. One can even rent a clown or animal farm for entertainment and just celebrate! (view the full post here)

Party favour ideas
I like buying practical gifts and to be brutally honest: if it has a battery, I prefer to overlook it. Here are some gift ideas I found that I like.

  • Puzzles, from 8 pieces and more. Should they not be able to build a puzzle with more than 20 pieces – they sure will in the next year.
  • Balls – need I say more? All shapes, color and sizes
  • Building Blocks – from Duplo to Lego and more
  • Kiddies sized household equipment. From cleaning, kitchen and tool sets, there are plenty to choose from. This makes the child feel special as they can ‘assist’ with household chores. Woolworths has a real cute cleaning set from their Early Learning Range.
  • Art supplies. This includes finger paint, sand art and play dough to name a few. Visit The Toy Box for some affordable, great ideas.
  • Bubble wands – which kid does not like bubbles?
