One of the lovilee readers, Jude Ferguson, recently submitted her little one, Evelyn Daisy {Evie}’s first birthday party for feature. What a unique theme – an ‘angel’ kids birthday party. The party took place at Crazee Daizees in Blouberg and the photos are by Tanya Young photography! The cake pops, cupcakes and biscuits were made by whimsical cupcakes.

What Jude had to say…
My daughter has been an absolute angel since she arrived a year ago so this was my immediate choice for the theme for her first birthday. I would have thought this would be a common theme as all parents see their kids as angels but when I went searching I found only one angel party as inspiration and I did take a lot of tips from it! In the end, my theme ended up being more ‘angel wings’ rather than the angel figurine. I resisted the urge to bring pink into the colour theme and insisted instead that everything was white or as close to white as possible – off-white/cream/beige/sand.

I wanted it to be very tasteful and classic and clean. I made the huge angel wings from coffee filters (idea from ‘hostess with the mostess‘) and used them to surround a photo of my daughter which I put behind the food table. I also used them on a welcome board which I made out of an old frame. I made my own bubble mix which I twinned with a white pipe cleaner wand which was meant to look like a halo! I incorporated feathers into my table in several ways- on the place cards, wrapped round the champagne glasses, fixing my straws to my ginger ale bottles and as a tie for the favour bags. I used a lot of scrap material and cannot tell you how much fun I had making everything myself. An angel party for my little angel.

A special thank you to my friend Tara who did the printing for me!
