Last Friday we featured a nautical themed nursery with personalised nursery art by Julie Kins, today I get to introduce you to this lovilee lady that creates designer art and gift stickers.
Tell us more about the lady behind the art:
I was born and raised in Durban. After working in the design industry for a number of years my late father encouraged me to start my own design company called ‘Just Julie’. A few months after I established the company he died of cancer. But his tenacity and will to live life to the fullest, in the face of huge obstacles, had been an inspiration to me my whole life. He became a paraplegic at the age of 19 but he persevered and learnt to “take each day as it came”. My father eventually became a renowned Durban Architect and he always believed in me and encouraged me to follow my heart and my passion for design.
How was your business born?
In 2009 I married Jasson and in 2011 I fell pregnant with our daughter Emma, I struggled to find art prints for her nursery. I had been playing around with some ideas for children’s rooms so it wasn’t hard for me to design something that was original and distinctive. I put pen to paper and began jotting down ideas and themes. After canvassing my designs to friends and family, the compliments and orders started to roll in. So in 2012 ‘Julie Kins’ was established!
What can people expect to see in your range?
Initially I created child-centred artwork, now my collection has grown into an extensive range, offering suitable designs for children’s rooms, the home and work place too. Each design is customisable and they are printed as an art print poster in various sizes ranging from A4 and larger. These creations instantly add a stylish and creative element to any room and with a wide range of themes to choose from there is a design for everyone!
They make charming personalised gifts for birthdays, weddings and other special occasions too!
We have also added our Gift Sticker Collection to our website, these fresh and stylish designs finish off any gift wrapping in the perfect way!
