Creative Challenge Month 8: Creative Bunting

This months’ challenge is such a fun one – making some creative bunting! Bunting was historically made from a coarse, open fabric of worsted or cotton for flags, signals, etc. They were used as festive decorations (source).

Today we see bunting adorning pretty cakes at weddings and other parties, we also hang bunting on walls to decorate rooms or at special events to create a festive atmosphere. (See thumbnail post here) Bunting can be made from paper, material, doilies and various other materials. You can literally go colour crazy or just stick to plains. I have done some iron on vinyl on hessian in the past with company names on but then also just sewn some pretty materials together.

Download the free alphabet bunting in the image above here.

Bunting does not necessarily have to take on a flag form, it is very popular to use letters these days, like the ones I used for manny’s plane party below. I also made some Creative bunting using crepe paper tassels.
