Calling all racers… Hot wheels party

When little manny turned FIVE he wanted a… you guessed it… a Hot Wheels party. From the time that he could start choosing a party he wanted something to do with wheels. His second birthday was a cars party, third one a construction party, last year a planes party and this year Hot Wheels. He already told me that he wanted a dragon party next year, so I am really hoping that it would last as it will be a totally new theme for me to work with.

I really tried to do something different with the decor this year, but alas, I was strictly told what he wanted. We opted for red and yellow as main colours with black and white racing squares as accents. Dominique from Hello Love Photography was kind enough to take the images for us.

As main attraction we booked a company called The Kiddies Cart Co who brought an inflatable track and four battery operated go carts to entertain the kids with. There were also two great assistants that kept an eye on the little people. It was a hit, they were totally exhausted after two hours of driving around in circles.

For the kids I made ‘hot dogs’ to tie in with the Hot Wheels theme. I bought some Matchbox cars on special way before the actual party and had to use them none the less. I tied he cars to the balloons so that they could serve as weights but the wind ended up ‘racing’ them all over the table.

Daddy made his signature cake topper again which Kaleb got to eat afterwards, the chocolate cake recipe is from the Perfect Parties book that I reviewed way back in 2014. My go to book before hosting any party.

There was also a small photo booth area where the little ones could pose for Instant driver photos with my Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 camera. They absolutely loved it. As favours they each got a hat which also protected them from the afternoon sun on the carts.

How spiffy did manny look in his hand-me-down racing outfit from my cousins?! He totally LOVED his Hot Wheels Party.
