This & That

The first Mamma Collaborative meeting & tea pairing experience

When mommy and fellow blogger, Mari-Louise from the Just a Mamma blog invited me to the first Mamma Collaborative meeting I was intrigued. I have wanted to meet this lovilee lady in person as we have chatted quite a bit on social media and email but had never met in person.

As woman and mamas we experience a lot of the same troubles, doubts and struggles. We face the same fears, insecurities, pressure and hate. At times we even act out and hurt one another as only a woman can… A HUGE part of why I started Just a Mamma was to bring about change. Change specifically towards woman- and motherhood. To create a “safe”, loving space where woman of all types can unite and find common ground. A space where we could celebrate and support one another and share in each other’s dreams and lives instead of judging, comparing and setting impossible standards NO ONE WANTS TO ADHERE TO.

Over this last few months I have been blessed to come across so many like-minded ladies that know what it’s all about. Whether through Instagram, Facebook or the incredible gals following and sharing in our blog; I love the sisterhood we are slowly starting to build… Hence the 1st Mamma Collaborative get-together.

The meeting was held at Mari-Louise’s beautiful home. Kianti Foods supplied the catering for the day and spoilt us to a tea tasting. Different teas were paired with delicious tea-time treats to enhance the flavours and aromas of each tea. They provided a selection of teas from Woolworths, made the delicious treats and even set the table. Mari-Louise added flowers and note cards explaining which tea should be paired with each treat.

Even though tea drinking is not really my thing (I am more of a coffee fan… Ok addict) I really, really enjoyed this tea pairing experience. The teas complimented the treats and the treats the teas, who would have thought that I would want seconds on some of the teas?! The chocolate mint truffles will haunt me for the rest of my life! They were absolutely divine and I think it needs to be added to my birthday party favourite foods list for this year!

The food was simply gorgeous not to even mention delicious – gourmet creations that included caramel sorghum popcorn, handmade choc-mint truffles, dark chocolate brownies, chili chocolate mouse and candied oranges. The candied oranges looked like huge lolly pops with a toffee like texture – DELICIOUS!
