Metacraft is a local wall decor business that specialises in producing lovilee location art pieces for your home. I was at first, I think much like you are probably now a little in the dark when it comes to the term ‘Location art’ but you will see that it is totally awesome and makes for not only a pretty wall art piece with meaning and significance but also a great gift for a couple getting married or alternatively a wedding anniversary gift.
Antony, the owner of Metacraft, and I come a long way and it is so nice to share in some of his dreams, seeing how they become a reality. He played such a key role in me meeting my husband, so it is simply lovilee that I was spoilt with a custom Location art piece that I used in my hubby’s home office.
The process of creating my lovilee wall decor piece was such fun from start to end and I ended up with a totally custom piece that has been added to the Metacraft catalogue and can be ordered going forward! I really being part in every aspect of the design process as well as receiving this high-quality artwork. We also used the art piece in the Scandinavian Inspired Christmas shoot captured by Hello Love Photography last year, my hair and makeup by Makeup by Monique.
Geolocation is the process of pinpointing the exact location of a person or object using GPS coordinates.
What is Location art?
Geolocation or Location Art is the location information of a place captured through art. For instance, the GPS coordinates and elevation of a special place close to your heart or where memories were made – such as your wedding venue, printed and framed and made beautiful, so that it can complement your wedding photographs in your home.
How did Metacraft start?
As humans, we’ve got really good at capturing special moments with photos and video. It occurred to us that there’s a lot of information (data, if you like) from special moments and memories that we’re not doing anything with. Like location information in this case. We saw this as an opportunity to create beautiful, contemporary pieces that celebrate something very personal, and that gets people talking. These are stunning conversation pieces that celebrate something specific and individual, whether it’s an event, a home or a destination.
We’ve done extensive product development, experimenting with different designs, formats and materials. We’ve also got loads of great feedback from customers and this lead us to where we are now.
Tell us more about the process you follow from consult to delivery creating each of these wall decor pieces?
Enquiries reach us via our web site or social channels. There’s some basic information which we need: every piece presents names, a date, and sometimes a tag line like ‘A Place To Remember’. We calculate GPS and elevation information based upon whatever location information the customer can provide, which can be very little depending on how remote it may be. In terms of styles, we try to make decisions easier by providing beautiful standard styles and formats which will suit most tastes and homes. Pieces are personalised by definition so there tends to always be some consultation, which is a fun process. Sometimes there’s a need to customise further with a meaningful colour and this may require some iteration to get a design right. Once the customer is happy then we can get the printing, mounting and framing going.
Our two popular formats are the long form which we’re calling the Bus Blind and Posters. The long horizontal Bus Blind pieces are perfect for events and celebrations. The Poster format is used throughout our Home range for people wanting to capture the details of their family and home.
