Visiting the Belgrace Boutique Hotel

My hubby and I recently visited the Belgrace Boutique Hotel, situated between Nelspruit and Witrivier. The hotel, that only opened its doors in October 2014, is strong making headway as a romantic getaway destination. It was an amazing experience, we were literally treated like royalty from the time we arrived at the main gate to the time that we left.

Situated just on the other side of Nelspruit, the trip took around 4 hours from Johannesburg, which included a short refreshment stop. I would advise trying to leave early afternoon to avoid driving in the dark as we met a few very impatient drivers on the road that made driving at night a bit daunting. The road to the Hotel is a fully tarred toll road in good condition. Should you opt to fly, they are in close proximity to the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport and can arrange for a transfer from there.

On arrival, we were first met by a friendly gate guard who greeted us by name! And then by two smartly dressed waiters, the one with warm facecloths to wipe our hands and the other with fresh cocktail beverages. Our luggage was taken to the rooms and we were taken for a short tour of the premises. The venue boasts 8 rooms of which 2 are family double room suites that can sleep 4 guests each. Each room has a jacuzzi on their private and covered verandas and is decorated in French style opulence. The rooms are filled with damask wallpapers and hand-painted furniture with crystal chandeliers.

The Rock Fig Restaurant, their on-site fine dining restaurant spoilt us with great food. They are open for Breakfasts, Lunch and Suppers and does not only supply guests with great food, but also accepts bookings from visitors. The Chef’s food was both tasty and filling, no need to snack afterwards. I also have a new A-list favourite – their caramelised phyllo and custard tower! (My husband would vote the lamb shank and chocolate pudding his favourites.)

We were also able to book some in-room wellness treatments that included a couples massage. A definite must for a romantic get-away. All in all I felt that I could have easily stayed another week, this royalty thing is definitely up my alley!
