Design Joburg is taking place at the Sandton Convention Centre from 24 – 26 May 2019 and this time round Durban based Douglas and Douglas will be there to inspire and launch their 2019 Ananas Collection. With colour and form emulating the curves of desert dunes and Bedouin tents, visitors to Design Joburg will experience Douglas and Douglas’ take on South African living with a decidedly serene edge, in collaboration with Sunbrella fabrics and Wolkberg Casting Studio.
Who is Douglas and Douglas?
Douglas and Douglas is a full interior design company that offers services ranging from interior services to room designs, bespoke furniture designs complete with an online shop. The company was founded by interior designer, Wendy-Lee Douglas.

About the Ananas Collection
This new collection will boast both furniture and soft furnishings – drawing inspiration from both architecture and nature. The signature of the Ananas Collection being a custom pattern inlay derived from a pineapple – their unique take on the current rattan trend permeating furniture design and the iconic furniture range of Michael Thonet.

Contemporary architect, Luis Barragan, inspired their initial thinking for the concept of their Design Joburg stand, infusing depth and perspective to the life-size space which will allow visitors the opportunity to interact with the various pieces. Expect to see the latest iteration of their Rumi Rocker Chair and a new sun lounger, as well as a surprise new piece set to be the hottest item for outdoor entertainment areas for Summer 2019.
A carefully curated colour scheme reminiscent of the Namib Desert and its undulating red dunes and dried out lakes, will be complemented by fabrics from international fabric house, Sunbrella, with a sustainable performance range of transitional fabric that blurs the lines between indoor and outdoor use.
Their collaboration with Wolkberg Casting Studio will enable them to showcase an oasis of colour and finishes, using their individually cast and handmade Limesite tiles – a nod to Morocco and its brightly hued nomad culture.
