I had been reading up on outdoor carpets over the past few months as I have two small kids in the house and have discovered that these little people know how to stain pretty carpets rather quickly. Having carpets dry cleaned regularly is costing a small fortune and not all of the ones that you can purchase can fit into or even be washed in a washing machine.
Mobelli showcased some of their outdoor carpets at Design Jo’burg earlier this year and I finally got to see these pieces in real life. I was surprised at how great they looked and how comfy they felt. Mobelli is a company that has been specialising in outdoor living for a few years. Their aim has always been to make outdoor patio living a pleasant experience by providing a full collection of stylish pieces to assist.
What is an outdoor rug?
An outdoor rug is simply that – a rug that can be used outdoors. They are made to weather the outdoors and are both pretty and easy to maintain. They come in really lovilee designs and textures. You have to look very closely to see that it is different from a normal rug as only the feel of it gives it away. Instead of having ‘hairs’ it is woven with an almost plastic like fibre that allows for this ease of cleaning and durability.
Mobelli’s range of outdoor carpets are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. These rugs are resistant to UV, mould and mildew. See the full collection of outdoor carpets available from Mobelli Furniture + Living
I opted for the patchwork grey beidge outdoor rug, but am using it indoors in our tv / playroom. I was surprised that it is also able to provide some warmth from the cold parquet floor and how light it is to move around. I simply vacuum and wipe the dirt off with a damp cloth at the moment and am so much more relaxed knowing that there can be as much mess as the kids want to make and it can be cleaned without much fuss. I hope to one day start using it on our patio as well – when we get our pup to stop eating furniture!
About Mobelli Furniture + Living
Owned by brothers Alon and Aviv Sachs, Mobelli South Africa was born out of frustration with high prices and poor offerings of outdoor furniture when Alon was looking for a sun lounger for his house in Cape Town. His search eventually led to finding a steamer sun lounger made out of wood.
After a three month wait, then sun lounger arrived – it had that wooden smell and a beautiful Brown colour. The care instruction given that it had to be oil coated it every six months. That alone evoked romantic images of the Hot sun, a beautiful day and him applying oil, effortlessly, on the wooden furniture, feeding the wood its nutrients. It was man made heaven.
The oiling process was not romantic at all – there were splints and the slats made the coating process more difficult. Within a few months it needed another coat…
At Mobelli they vowed to limit the use of wood which requires maintenance, they ensure they have stock so that you will not have to wait for the furniture and they promise to supply good quality furniture at affordable prices.
