En-suite bathroom before & after

I recently revamped our en-suite bathroom and was soooo pleased with the outcome that I decided to share the bathroom before & after. The bathroom really had a few glitches… The plumbing was a mess and could only be resolved by removing the tiles, the old tiles were not really my taste, so we decided that we would just do a complete re-vamp.

We got some quotes and I almost collapsed when I received them. We managed getting everything done ourselves for less than half the prices provided, but admit that I do have some extra grey hairs to show for it.

What we did:

  1. Chopped off the old full tiles and only tiled the walls half way. We used tiles from iTILE, their range and prices were some of the best! We also used mosaic tiles from them around the side of the bath and ended it off with silver edging strips, also from iTILE.
  2. Floor tiles were laid at a 45 degree angle and I bought them from CTM.
  3. We replaced the old scratched corner bath with a new one from Bathroom Bizarre. These guys’ service was awesome! I ordered the bath and was phoned to collect it the next day! The problem was that the old bath and new one differed slightly so had to be re-sunk. Luckily for us the old one was not sunk at all, so not too much time lost on this project.
  4. For the vanity I used a re-purposed TV cabinet from Lots & Crates {available in white or dark wood}. I then had a piece of granite cut for the top by Granite Encounters who also installed the cupboard for me. Again, their service and advice on this was priceless! I would recommend them for any granite solutions! They are based in Kya Sands, Johannesburg. I then added a loose basin from CTM.
  5. The mirror above the vanity is from a small décor store, called Polka Dot Decor, in Benmore Garden Shopping centre.
  6. Decorated one of the walls with ‘droplets’ from vinyl by Match Set Love.
  7. Added a Consol Glass Solar Jar on a hook to combat loadshedding blackouts.
  8. The taps, toilet-roll holder and towel rack is from Builders Warehouse.
  9. The roller-blind was made by my mom and used in the bathroom before the re-vamp.
  10. I cannot give you the paint colour as I mixed it myself to get the right shade of grey using left over brown paint and blue.

My pride and joy in this en-suite bathroom is definitely the vanity, and now there is even space to put the towels!
