A Pinterest Party

When little Mia turned 1 her parents knew that this would most probably be the only party that they got to choose the theme. They decided on a Pinterest party! The next one will probably be a Barbie or Barney theme at little Mia’s choosing. Tina, Mia’s mom, originally wanted to make the theme “Party Animals” and visted In Good Campany in Parkhurst to look for goodies. When they came across this geometrical, colorful theme they loved it much more. And so the look of the party came to be.

Because Mia is an August baby they thought it would still be cold and only invited 11 people so everyone would fit into their flat. But it turned out to be the most gorgeous, sunny day. The whole event was just meant to be an easy day with a few awesome people – which was exactly how it turned out. They had some champagne to celebrate (and non-alcaholic for the moms to be), braai’ed some burgers and ate some cake.

Do you have any advice for mommies planing their first parties?
My advise would be keep it simple and real. They’re so small – don’t overwhelm them. They need enough people to make a fuss about them but still be able to take their afternoon nap in their own bed (routine is King in their little lives). Do something nice and easy in a space that works for them. Mia had such an awesome time, she was so comfortable in her own space that she is familiar and comfortable in.

And of course, get a good photograher. You can really just run around with your 1 year old and enjoy the day and know that you’ll have some beautiful pics to print and to remember this big day by!
