10 Easy DIY projects for beginners

At the start of the year I always feel energized to do something new so I thought I’d share some Easy DIY projects for beginners. All of these products can be done in less than a day, so you still have some time before heading back to the office.

1. How to make your own DIY peg board

I started on a DIY Pegboard project at the end of last year and it is finally at a point that I can say it is complete! A pegboard is the perfect solution to a home office that lacks space, it is both neat and pretty and I find it very functional. I searched far and wide for some home office inspiration and finally just decided to take the leap and make a pegboard myself. See you to make one for yourself here.

2. Make an on-trend faux flower wall

I was part of the ISCA trends stand and one of the influencers behind the new range of colour taps that they launched. At the Decorex Johannesburg stand I revealed this faux flower wall art. See the DIY in this link.

3. Simple DIY couch arm table

A couch armrest table is a really functional item to have. When it comes to small space living a coffee table is sometimes out of the option, so adding a couch arm table will give you all of the functionality without utilising more space.

4. Make your own terrarium (great gift idea!)

This DIY terrarium tutorial is for all of you who say you cannot grow anything but are desperate for a little garden. These little terrariums can be as big or as small as you want. The terrarium succulents you chose are all your choice – try keep them as small as you can as they will grow and grow. A terrarium make for a great hostess gift or simply use it as a table decoration or a statement piece in your entry way.

5. DIY vinyl backsplash

When we updated our kitchen I was not ready to commit to a backsplash so decided to do my own using removable vinyl. This is the perfect solution if you rent a space as the vinyl is removable. View the full DIY here.

6. How to make a DIY desk organiser

Having a pretty Desk organiser should be everyones’ goal this year. I shared this cute house organizer by Pure Sweet Joy that you can replicate here.

7. How to cover an old pin board

A pin board is a great way to create some whimsical fun in your office or bedroom. It is the best place to keep your theater tickets, children’s drawings, special photographs or a list of details you need on hand.

8. DIY Copper hooks

These DIY copper hooks was part of the DIYs that I made for the bathroom on a budget make-over challenge for ISCA Taps’ stand at the Johannesburg edition of Decorex 2018. View the full DIY here. 9. DIY House number

10. 5 minute DIY cork board

This 5 minute craft DIY cork board is just the thing to add a touch of lovilee and functionality to your kitchen. Decorative cork boards are not only for the home office or classroom. Whether you make use of a bulletin board to keep your notes, pretty picture memories or other items, Pinterest is filled with different cork board ideas!

    Such a lovely post! Our favourites are the DIY terrarium and the DIY desk organiser. I love how you can get creative with the styling of the organiser ( the little houses stacked together). Will definitely look at trying one for myself this month.
